In 1842 Lieutenant L. A. Zagoskin, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), called this river by the Indian name ""Keledzhichagat."" In 1913 A. H. Brooks, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), reported the name ""Yukwonilnuk"" and in 1915 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported local usage to be ""George River.""" |
